Black Women-Owned Fashion Brands to Shop Right Now
As we conclude Women’s History Month, I thought it would be valuable to share some of my favorite brands owned by Black women. Fashion has been and will continue to be a huge part of black history and culture. For black women today, fashion design has become a way for them to represent their cultural heritage, femininity, and excellence. The fashion industry has changed a lot over the past decade with there being more acceptance of different skin tones and body types, and these black women are at the forefront of this change.
NADI
NADI was founded by Nigerian-American designer, Danielle "Dani" Udoh. Producing beautifully curated pieces, NADI focuses more on creating clothing that’s representative of the brand's cultural identity and passion behind it rather than catering to trends. Through each season’s release, you can see how the founder’s Nigerian culture influences her color choices and silhouettes. Leaning a little more toward the luxury side, any piece you buy will last a lifetime because of the craftsmanship. These seasonal drops are only available for that season, so make sure you buy it before it’s too late.

2. Stript
Stript was founded by Howard University graduate, Arianna “Ari” Davis. Selling primarily shapewear and loungewear, Stript is a clothing brand meant for everyone no matter the body type. Bodysuits have often been associated with the baddie aesthetic and have been seen to only fit the “slim-thick” body type. But through her brand, Arianna is breaking down those stereotypes and opening the door to everyone. Through several different designs, the brand was made for everyone to find the style that makes them feel confident.
