Meet Our Community Members: Havana
Hi! I’m Havana, an Editorial Intern for A Style Set and a first-year communications student. As an Aquarius (you’ll notice I like to describe myself in astrological terms), I’m a lover of all things creative—from dancing to directing photoshoots for fun. When I’m not flipping through Vogue and journalistically writing about the latest in fashion, Carrie Bradshaw-style, you’ll probably find me exploring the city, listening to music with a matcha latte in hand. Otherwise, I’m either undertaking bucket-list adventures with my friends or recharging my social battery by cozying up in bed with a good book or movie.

How I Got into Fashion:
I’ve been a self-proclaimed fashionista for as long as I can remember! With Vera Wang as my icon and my mom working as a luxury sales associate, I dreamed of being a fashion designer growing up—sketching my own designs and participating in related workshops. While I’ve since developed different goals and aspirations, fashion continues to play a central role in the way I express myself, and it’s an industry I’m eager to tap into in the future (just maybe not as a designer).
My OOTD:
With temperatures rising, I’ve been able to peel off some of the winter layers I’d been sporting (although it admittedly never gets too cold in sunny California). I recently attended a local vintage clothing market, where I picked up my current go-to look (proud outfit repeater here): a striped, off-the-shoulder long sleeve paired with low-rise flares, finished off with UGGs, a belt, and a chunky necklace.

HOW I’D DESCRIBE MY STYLE:
After realizing I was severely lacking in the basics department, I began the journey to rediscover my personal style last year. Going down the rabbit hole of capsule wardrobes and sustainable fashion, I quickly realized my love for the classic and timeless—something I attribute to my traditionally driven Capricorn Venus (check out how to dress like your zodiac sign here). While I don’t want to box myself into one specific aesthetic, I value versatile, quality pieces and gravitate toward neutrals and dark colors.
That said, the creative in me welcomes all styles, and I enjoy adding personality to my outfits by accessorizing—usually with chunky jewelry.
Trends I’m Seeing in My City:
Streetwear is a popular style in my area. Colder weather often brings out graphic hoodies paired with baggy low-rise jeans, while warmer days see these pieces swapped out for basic tops and jorts. Adidas Sambas and other flat sneakers are the footwear of choice, with carabiners taking the top spot for accessories. Brands like Stüssy and Fear of God are especially widespread.

I received a pair of chestnut-colored UGG Tasmans this past holiday season, and they’ve been my go-to shoes ever since! In addition to being comfortable and timeless (I immediately knew what to put on my wishlist after seeing them worn by Rachel Green and Lorelai Gilmore), they can be dressed up or down to suit various occasions and seasons. My tip: if you decide to invest in a pair of UGGs, a leather protector spray makes for another worthwhile addition to your cart. (I’ve worn mine in the rain multiple times—not a single stain to be seen!)

What’s On My Wishlist:
More boxers (especially ones in striped or dotted patterns)! I’ve seen a lot of debate around whether or not these micro shorts are acceptable to wear in public, and I believe they are! (Hey, they’re cute, okay?) Whether you’re wearing them as part of a matching set to sleep, paired with a graphic tee to run errands, or peeking out beneath low-rise jeans, boxers are a cozy yet playful addition to any wardrobe—even more so with summer right around the corner.

Whenever I’m in a fashion rut, I always turn to Becky Kim's TikToks. A Toronto-based creator, she’s the master of balancing trendy pieces with timeless style—a living lesson in the power of knowing your silhouette and investing in quality basics. In the winter, her layering skills and coat selection are especially unmatched!

By producing weekly blogs, designing graphics, and forecasting trends, A Style Set is a creative outlet that allows me to combine my love for writing, digital media, and fashion in one place. From conception to distribution, the entire process is so much fun; it’s given me an avenue to learn more about the latest styles, discover emerging brands, and take inspiration from our community around the world.
