How to Style Trends Straight Off the Runway

The 2026 Spring/Summer fashion shows have just ended and by the looks of it, it would be wise to start shopping ahead. We’ve watched multiple fashion houses debut new collections with newly appointed creative directors, like Matthieu Blazy for Chanel and Johnathan Anderson for Dior – and to nobody’s surprise, we’re seeing new looks that everyone, from celebrities to politicians, is flocking to. Hot off the runway, here is how to style the trendiest fashion this Spring and Summer.

  1. lace

We’re finally learning to embrace lace in all its glory. It is no longer seen as risky or too boho, but rather a fashion statement for many new designers. Lace, especially in the form of a dress, is making a solid comeback. Zoe Kravitz, the queen of lace and sheer, walked the 2026 Golden Globes in a pink silk dress embroidered with white lace – an excellent example of how lace is excellent when used in conjunction with other materials. Use lace as an accessory to add texture to an outfit, or make it your whole outfit! Lace is excellent for layering clothing too: under or over dresses, lace scarves, lace coverups, lace skirts, the list goes on.

2. Movement

Feathers! Tassels! Fringes! The 2026 Spring/Summer runway has nothing but movement. Designers are stepping away from tight fitting, body-con silhouettes and experimenting with movement in their designs. From looser, baggier silhouettes to completely organic shapes, or even accessories that extended the human form, fashion highlights more than just the shape of one's body, but how the body shapes the clothing itself. How to style this? Pick a statement garment that screams movement, whether it be through its materiality, structure, or its silhouette, and create a balance by using elements like belts, tucking or playing around with the illusion of body proportions to make your outfit more interesting yet cohesive.

3. SHEER

The sheer material has only really been worn by the boldest of us because, well, it requires you to be essentially naked. However, designers are showing us how sheer can be worn by everyone and anyone, enhancing an outfit by showing some skin but in more subtle and fashionable ways. Sheer clothing is typically worn loosely, another way of creating movement in an outfit. Wear sheer clothing on its own, pairing it with a cute bralette to still provide some coverage. Or if this isn’t your style, use it as a cover-up over your clothes. Not only does it introduce a new texture to your outfit, but makes it visually interesting as well. Remember, in order to wear sheer clothing, it doesn’t have to be the whole outfit that is sheer. Just add one piece of clothing here and there for an unexpectedly classy look.

4. OPULENCE

Every girl needs a little whimsy and sparkle in her life, and designers KNOW it. The 2026 Spring/Summer runaways have been showered with embellishments, glitters and sparkles that the girls cannot get enough of. Paralleling our desire for quiet luxury, minimal and subtle opulence clicks instantaneously – fabrics like silk and hand embellishments translate to a quiet luxury. However, if you like your outfits as loud as I do, opulence provides this choice as well. It can be such a fun and easy way to add interest to your outfit, whether it be in the form of accessories like sarong coverups or chunky jewellery, or pieces of garments like embellished skirts or shiny nylon materials. Opulence as a trend sees no signs of slowing.

5. silk & satin

Paralleling trends of the ‘lady-like’ image – soft, delicate, elegant silhouettes – silk and satin would be a perfect material to add to your closet this year, no matter the form it takes. Often used interchangeably, silk and satin create space for elegant draping that is hard to recreate with other materials. In this way, silk and satin also express a form of quiet luxury that almost every girl chases. Whether it be in the form of a top, a maxi skirt, or even accessories like scarves, these highly versatile materials can be worn for any outing. Depending on the occasion, silk and satin can be paired with denim to create a more casual outfit; or for a more put together look, they can be paired with even more silk and satin to create a respectable luxurious look.

6. Silk scarves & their patterns

Scarves have been on the rise as a way to accessorize and add colour to an outfit, and the Spring/Summer runway has shown us exactly how to master this look. From the blown up proportions of intricate yet bold colours on garments, to accessories that communicate this boldness, scarves are such a unique way of adding colour to an outfit. The classic would be a scarf in the form of a necktie or hung off of your handbag, but designers have shown us how to take this a step further. Used as patterns for tops, skirts and dresses, or wrapped around the waist or shoulder, scarves can be used in so many different ways.
