Meet Our Community Members: Beth
Hi! I’m Beth, an Editorial Intern at A Style Set and a junior this upcoming school year at the University of Utah, majoring in Marketing and Minoring in Business Analytics. I love being at the beach and have been getting into hiking recently. I also love any creative crafty hobby like scrapbooking, sewing, baking, painting, and more! I’m usually exploring new coffee shops or at home updating my Pinterest boards.

How I Got into Fashion:
I’ve always loved clothes when I was a kid. My mom and I often found our way to the mall, which really influenced my love for styling outfits. I was constantly experimenting with different pieces and changing my outfit three times a day just for a new look. I told my mom I wanted to be a fashion designer so she put me in sewing classes, which I loved and I wish I sewed more often. Although I don’t want to be a designer anymore I still have a passion for fashion and dream of working in the industry after college.
My OOTD:
When I’m not stuck at work and have time to wander my hometown or walk to a nearby coffee shop, I love dressing up for the occasion. With the warm weather and being right by the beach, I’ve been wearing a lot of sundresses. It’s been my go-to outfit all summer. I usually pair my look with some dainty jewelry, sandals, and a chunky purse or tote to hold all the necessities.

HOW I’D DESCRIBE MY STYLE:
From being in California all summer to Utah during the winter and fall, my style is always changing throughout the year. When the weather is warm, I’ll always find an excuse to wear sundresses or anything floral. My outfits are definitely more feminine and girly during warmer seasons. This past fall and winter I’ve been obsessed with cardigans, scarves, and my leather jacket. I definitely love a layered look for the colder weather.
Trends I’m Seeing in My City:
Being in California for most of the summer, I’ve seen a lot of girls wearing the classic LA outfit: denim shorts, a white tank top, and sneakers with ankle socks. I’ve also been seeing some girls wearing sweats, leggings, and workout sets as a comfortable look for yoga or running errands. Some brands I see often are Alo and Brandy Melville which definitely have an influence on LA's fashion scene.

I’ve been obsessed with the heels and jeans look recently! I think it’s such a perfect way to elevate a casual look and it’s so chic all year around. For the summer, I’d recommend pairing your jeans with a sequined top and some accessories for a night out look. Or for the winter, I’d suggest layering up with jackets and scarves for a cozy outfit. Styling heels with your jeans is such a simple yet classy addition to complete any look.

What’s On My Wishlist:
My wishlist is literally anything and everything on my Pinterest board, but recently I’ve been loving pieces with beaded, embroidered, or sequined details. I think it’s such a stylish and unique way to wear an outfit. Clothing with these details is a perfect statement piece and they add the perfect personal touch to your look.

Whenever I’m in a slump with outfits or even finding inspiration, I always end up looking at Malin Tomkins’ Instagram. She’s always up-to-date with fashion trends and I love the way she styles them. Her outfits consist of a lot of color, patterns, and textures, which make them so unique and fashionable!
FAVORITE PART ABOUT INTERNING AT A STYLE SET:
I have so much love for this internship and A Style Set! I loved the creative freedom and being able to share fashion tips or advice with so many people. From researching fashion trends, to writing blog posts, and creating graphics, this role has helped me learn more about the fashion world. This internship has also helped me grow and strengthen so many skills this past summer. Being part of A Style Set has been such a wonderful opportunity!
